Cameroon Partnership in Development(CPID) primary mission is “Transforming Rural Primary Health Care Delivery and Sustainable Rural Community Development in Underserved Villages: A Community Partnership” that brings sustainable crucial much-needed primary health care to the door steps of vulnerable medically underserved populations living in Cameroon remote impoverished villages where access to medical care, medication and public health disease prevention education is extremely limited , while empowering women, men and families to take charge of their health and sustainable development.
This effort is expected to reduce maternal and newborn mortality, where pregnant women in remote, impoverished villages have no maternity facilities where they can give birth under sanitary conditions with the assistance of skilled professionals who can handle complications. In addition , the program will improve people’s health in remote impoverished villages where families and vulnerable populations have no resources and organized health care delivery.
Provide primary care, preventive care and education, training community health workers (Rural Community Health Auxiliaries), and sustainable rural community development approach to projects so they can be collectively sustained.
Where we work
Cameroon Partnership in Development currently works in Santa-Sub Division in the North-West Region of Cameroon. Santa-Sub Division is made up of ten (10) remote rural villages whose social-economic conditions are very poor. 99% of the villagers are subsistence farmers who mainly grow food crops for consumption. The result of the above is a very poor economic base with more than 90% of the families living in extreme poverty. Due to their remoteness, the area is neglected by the national government in areas of infrastructure-very bad roads, that are worse during the rainy season, poor schools that lack teachers and when teachers are available, their salaries are not regular and couple with poverty, makes life very hard for the villagers especially women and children to access health care .
Cameroon Partnership in Development sustainable development model is helping one village at a time. Instead of short-term projects in many different villages, Cameroon Partnership in Development disseminates scalable sustainable rural village development model.
Baligham village is CPID Sustainable Rural Village program pilot site and the program has plans to be scaled up to other ten (10) remote impoverished villages in the Santa-Sub Division in the northwest region of Cameroon .
